The Role: Green City Growers, or GCG, is growing and is looking to hire an Operations Manager to oversee installations, facilities, and vehicles and has the ability to see their work through. This is a full-time, year-round position. This is for someone who ishard-working, likes to use their head and hands, and manages labor well. There is significant growth opportunity here, and the job is great for someone motivated by something larger than themselves.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Management:
Oversee and, as needed, participate in installations and repairs of GCG’s garden sites. In conjunction with other departments, coordinate installations & work order schedules. Prioritize based on company, departmental, and facilities requirements. Manage other projects and assignments as needed to grow the company, such as new product development and testing.

Training & Management: Hiring, training, managing, and growing the capacity of operations department employees. Train all crew members in building, repairing, maintaining, and documenting all work done. Find ways to improve processes. Create and conduct training and maintain written documentation. Collaborate with the horticulture department to create and improve training on using infrastructure and tools relevant to their positions.

Financial: Work with the finance department to support costing/pricing and budgeting.

Purchasing & Vendor Management: Maintain necessary on-hand inventory for all GCG products and builds. Take monthly inventory and maintain records and receipts for all purchases. Vet, price, budget, contract & manage outside vendors and contractors.

Meetings: Facilitate work order and installs meetings. Attend, participate in, and facilitate meetings as assigned. Report all questions, concerns, and pertinent information to related persons/departments. Provide customer and participant feedback as needed for internal continual improvement processes.

Facilities & Shop: Maintain cleanliness, organization, and working order of warehouse workshop, office, greenhouse, grow room, and all facilities. Keep the tools clean and organized. Ensure all hardware and parts are organized and stored correctly. Responsible for in-house repairs, manage cleaning service, manage pest control service, and facilities improvements. Support new product development and prototyping. Implement and maintain organizational systems for materials and tool storage and builds preparations.


Fleet & Equipment:
Ensure all vehicles and equipment are up to date with regular maintenance and inspections. Coordinate repairs with outside mechanics. Utilize Fleetio to keep records and perform all vehicle maintenance.

Communications: Report all questions, concerns, and pertinent information to the relevant department and person. Provide customer and participant feedback as needed for customer success. Participate in our B-Corp recertification process.

IDEAL

QUALIFICATIONS AND Skills:
  • Construction/carpentry, landscaping and/or mechanical skills/background
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment operation/maintenance
  • Good leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities
  • Detail-oriented, strong time management, organizational abilities
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast paced, collaborative environment
  • Familiarity and experience with Google and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Driver’s license required
  • Ability to work flexible hours (early evenings, 6 to 8 Saturdays a year max possible)
  • Ability to regularly move heavy objects (>50 lbs.)
