The Executive Director, Philanthropy (EDP) is responsible for developing and executing the comprehensive fundraising strategy for Newton-Wellesley Hospital to achieve annual and long-term philanthropic goals.

Reporting jointly to the Vice President of Development, System Philanthropy for Mass General Brigham and the President and Chief Operating Officer of Newton-Wellesley Hospital, this leader oversees all fundraising programs, including annual giving, major gifts, gift planning, corporate and foundation relations, special events, donor stewardship, and campaign initiatives.

The Executive Director leads and develops a high-performing fundraising team, cultivates strategic partnerships with hospital leadership, physicians, volunteers, donors, and community stakeholders, and advances a strong culture of philanthropy throughout the organization. The EDP also partners closely with the Managing Director of Salem Hospital to provide strategic oversight and coordination of shared services staff, ensuring alignment, collaboration, and operational excellence across both hospital development teams.

This role is accountable for setting fundraising strategy, driving innovation and growth, managing budgets and operational performance, leveraging data and metrics to inform decision-making, and ensuring compliance with all Mass General Brigham Development Office and institutional policies related to fundraising, prospect management, gift administration, and performance management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Develops and implements a comprehensive philanthropic strategy aligned with Newton-Wellesley Hospital's strategic priorities and Mass General Brigham Development goals.
• Achieves annual fundraising goals across major gifts, annual giving, grateful patient giving, planned giving, corporate and foundation relations, and special initiatives.
• Partners with hospital leadership and Mass General Brigham Development to identify, prioritize, and advance philanthropic opportunities that support clinical care, research, education, capital projects, and strategic growth.
• Builds and maintains strong partnerships with the Hospital President, senior leadership team, physician leaders, and volunteer leadership to advance a culture of philanthropy throughout the organization.
• Provides strategic leadership and support to the Newton-Wellesley Hospital Board and its committees, engaging members in fundraising, stewardship, and ambassador activities.
• Develops annual operating plans, fundraising forecasts, and budgets while ensuring responsible stewardship of philanthropic resources and adherence to organizational goals and industry best practices.
