Senior Operating Engineer
The Senior Operating Engineer supports operation, inspection and maintenance processes for mechanical, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing equipment and systems at a state‑of‑the‑art 465,000 square foot Class A Life Science facility in Somerville, Massachusetts.
Schedule7am‑3:30pm Monday through Friday + on‑call rotation
Responsibilities- Oversee and manage central utility plant operations
- Monitor and oversee vendors
- Complete assigned tasks including facility maintenance operations, lighting system maintenance, plumbing services, HVAC system management, water treatment protocols, locksmith services, and additional general maintenance duties
- Maintain work order system (CMMS) daily and complete tenant service requests
- Perform assigned preventive maintenance and inspection tasks
- Support on‑call or emergency response situations
- Troubleshoot all building systems, including electrical, BMS
- Comply with all safety procedures
- Participate in ongoing technical, safety, and operational process training programs
On‑site presence required.
Qualifications- 3+ years of related work experience, especially in repair, maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical or carpentry
- Trade school education, union training, military service, or college education desirable
- Universal CFC EPA certification or willingness to obtain within first year (with JLL assistance)
- MWRA wastewater license or willingness to acquire within first year (with JLL assistance)
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Comfort using ladders up to 30 feet tall
- Ability to frequently climb, bend, kneel, lift, and/or drive
- Strong customer service skills
- Not providing visa sponsorship; candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
97,760.00 – USD per year (range may differ based on qualifications, location, market conditions).
