Junior – Senior Software Engineer - Backend​/Platform

Position Overview

Ok Innovations) is a woman‑founded cleantech startup focused on delivering AI‑powered solutions that improve industrial sustainability. We are looking for a Backend Engineer to build the core implementation of our cloud‑backend systems that power real‑time industrial data insights.

• Build & Ship APIs: Develop and maintain backend APIs and services that power our core product, working closely with senior engineers to deliver production‑ready features.
• Work with Data Pipelines: Support the development and maintenance of data pipelines using tools such as Databricks to process and analyze large‑scale datasets.
• Infrastructure as Code: Use Terraform to manage and deploy cloud infrastructure in a scalable, repeatable way.
• Product Performance: Improve database and infrastructure performance by optimizing relational schemas and building high‑efficiency data pipelines.
• Monitoring Infrastructure: Enhance observability, monitoring, and alerting of our cloud infrastructure to identify bottlenecks and reduce downtime.
• Security Design: Integrate secure data practices and prioritise security in everything we build.
• Grow Fast: Continuously learn new tools, technologies, and domain knowledge in a fast‑paced environment.

• Strong Python and/or PHP skills with solid backend development experience.
• Proficiency with SQL databases, including complex queries, optimization, and performance tuning.
• Familiarity with No
  
  SQL databases.
• Experience with AWS and/or Azure.
• Understanding of data pipelines (ETL);
  Spark/Databricks is a plus.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform).
• Knowledge of security best practices.
• Strong ownership mindset with excellent problem‑solving skills.

Salary range: $90,000 – $125,000 per year, plus equity and comprehensive benefits. (Specific offerings are subject to change.)
