Accounts Payable Specialist

Overview

Furino & Sons, Inc., a well-established construction company, is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accounts Payable Specialist to manage all aspects of the accounts payable function. This role focuses heavily on vendor, subcontractor, and material invoice processing within a fast-paced construction environment.

Location: Branchburg, New Jersey

Job Type: Full-Time

Schedule: Monday–Friday

Work Location: In-Office

• Process, review, and accurately code vendor, supplier, and subcontractor invoices
• Match invoices to purchase orders, contracts, delivery tickets, and receiving documentation
• Review subcontractor payment applications for accuracy and compliance
• Verify pricing, quantities, retainage, and proper approvals prior to payment
• Prepare weekly check runs and electronic payments
• Maintain and track lien waivers, W-9s, and subcontractor documentation
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve invoice discrepancies
• Communicate with vendors and subcontractors regarding invoice status and payment inquiries
• Maintain organized and auditable accounts payable files and records
• Assist with 1099 preparation and year-end reporting related to accounts payable
• Ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls related to AP
• Support project teams by addressing AP-related questions as needed

• 2+ years of Accounts Payable experience preferred
• Construction industry experience strongly preferred
• Familiarity with subcontractor invoices, retainage, and lien waivers a plus
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/AP software
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a high-volume environment
• Strong organizational, communication, and follow-up skills
