Verdantas is seeking a Scientist II for the Somerville, NJ, location.
What You'll Do:
- Perform field tasks, including data collection, measurements, excavation observation
- Prepare field notes and related documentation in accordance with company standards
- Conduct drilling oversight and logging of soil borings, monitoring wells, and soil vapor points
- Collect groundwater, soil, sediment, air, and surface water samples for laboratory analysis
- Collect and interpret data and information through research, use of online databases, modeling, and file reviews
- Enter collected data into report format using applicable software and company formatting guidelines
- Assist with preparation of regulatory submittals, such as permit applications and work plans
- Assist with preparation of technical reports to document project findings, conclusions, and recommendations
- Operate and maintain remediation systems
- Prepare project-specific Health and Safety Plans (HASPs)
- Prepare maps and other illustrations for data interpretation and presentation
- Maintain Excel databases associated with regulatory compliance
- Apply basic knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and regulatory programs
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline
- 2-5 years of relevant experience
- Combination of office and outdoor work environment. When in an outdoor environment, the employee is subject to walking distances in uneven terrain, varying temperature and weather conditions, and some heavy lifting
- Proficient with MS Office suite of products
- 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training a plus
- Must have a valid driver's license
