Role DescriptionWe’re seeking a Senior Design Engineer that will be responsible for developing new products using Solid Works, managing projects from conception through production, and maintaining all relevant documentation related to product development and existing products. This role works closely with Quality Control, the Testing Laboratory, and Operations to ensure products meet industry standards and to acquire initial pricing. It is a hybrid role based out of our Corporate Headquarters in Somerville, New Jersey with an expectation of three days per week in the office.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Develop new products in Solid Works from concept, prototyping, and testing through production.
- Manage product development projects, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
- Maintain product documentation, including drawings, CAD models, procedures, and Product Lifecycle Management records.
- Build and test prototypes using 3D printing technology.
- Collaborate with engineers to develop solutions and resolve quality issues.
- Determine initial product costs and obtain vendor quotes for prototypes and materials.
- Create purchase orders and coordinate prototype procurement.
- Interact with vendors to get quotes and order prototypes.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Experience- 5+ years of experience in product design and development.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials.
- Experience in project management and documentation control.
- Knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management software and ERP systems.
- Understanding of mold flow analysis software and its application in product design.
- Experience in designing products that meet industry-specific regulations and standards related to plastics and injection molding processes.
- Knowledge of part assembly methods and experience designing products for manufacturability.
- Proficient in Solid Works and other CAD software.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
