Parking Enforcement Officer - Somerville Borough.

Is seeking candidates for a full-time Parking Enforcement Officer position. Population: 12,500; 2.4 square miles;
Somerset County seat. Duties include enforcement of pay stations and electronic street meters. Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions. Duties require the ability to walk for long periods of time. The employee will be required to operate a handheld enforcement device and a cellular or two-way communication device. The Borough may also enforce parking regulations in other jurisdictions pursuant to an interlocal arrangement.

The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively and courteously. Assistance with the collection system may be required. The position requires a high school diploma and a valid New Jersey driver's license with an excellent driving record. Hourly rate: $20-$30. Candidates must pass a criminal background check. The successful candidate shall wear a uniform and maintain a professional appearance.

Candidates must be able to read, write, and speak English clearly in order to provide courtroom testimony. Bilingual skills and prior experience are a plus. The employee will be required to operate a municipal motor vehicle.
