Pastor Position Description Church’s Mission and Vision
United Reformed Church is a warm and welcoming congregation which for 350 years has been rooted in Reformed theology and tradition with a beautiful stained glass filled sanctuary. Our mission is to grow in our faith and love of Jesus Christ, to extend that love into the community, and to bring others to the same. TheOpportunity
We are searching for a theologically grounded spiritual leader with a sense of humor, who will journey with us, offering sound preaching, intentional pastoral care, and visionary outreach.
Key Responsibilities- Worship:
Plan and lead worship each Sunday in conjunction with other staff members and volunteers. Deliver biblically sound and relevant sermons. Conduct special services in conjunction with the Consistory such as funerals, baptisms, and weddings. - Pastoral Care:
Provide spiritual support through hospital and home visits. Offer a compassionate, listening presence. - Administration:
Collaborate and provide leadership with staff and the Consistory to live out our mission and vision. Represent the church in denominational settings. - Community Engagement:
Participate in outreach and represent the church in the community of Somerville. - Family and Fellowship:
Engage with congregants across generations, attend fellowship events, and participate in activities geared toward the youth of our church.
- Degree in Theology, Master of Divinity or Certificate of readiness for examination
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
