The Borough of Somerville is seeking a qualified pool manager to oversee operations at our 2 borough pools. Each pool is 3.5 feet deep and open 7 days a week.

This position is performed under general supervision of the Recreation Director. Responsible for supervision of pool staff and day-to-day operations both remotely and in-person. Working conditions are mainly outdoor work in which the employee may be exposed to hot, humid, cold, and wet weather conditions.
Position qualifications- Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position
- Must have a driver’s license
- Ability to organize lifeguard schedule
- Scheduling apps may be used. Familiarity with technology and willingness to learn app
- Basic knowledge of pools, materials, and supplies
- CPR and first aid certification preferred
- Ability to be contacted and work on weekends and holidays
- Pools are open during the summer months to the public from noon to 6 pm
- Ability to oversee and manage all aspects of operations, including inventory and reporting
- Ability to track employee hours
- Ability to accurately prepare routine administrative paperwork
- Excellent customer service skills

Pool manager job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Supervising personnel
- Maintaining records and shift reports
- Discussing pool chemistry with Certified Pool Operator (CPO) as needed
- Communication with the Recreation Director on closures
- Communicate routinely with the Department of Public Works (DPW)
- Conduct lifeguard staff meeting
- Enforce personnel policies
- Work with staff to keep records of injuries, incidents, and concerns
- Ensure that pool hazards are addressed
- Present professional and appropriate appearance and attitude at all times and maintain a high standard of customer service. You must wear proper staff attire.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
- Prepare and maintain appropriate activity reports
- Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures
- Able to follow routine verbal and written instructions
- Promoting aquatic activities
- Responsible for communicating inventory needs
$25 to $31 per hour
