** Position Summary*
* The Specialty Therapeutic Area Specialist (TAS) is a critical role in BMS’s customer model, driving adoption of BMS medicines within a defined portfolio and territory. The TAS engages healthcare providers (HCPs) with a differentiated customer experience, engaging in deep scientific dialogue, and leveraging tools and systems to meet HCP needs while focusing on business results and safety of product use.
Given the dense hospital and academic medical center landscape in Brooklyn, the ideal candidate will have proven success selling in institutional and hospital-based environments, and will be proficient in navigating hospital systems.
Key Responsibilities- Promote approved indications of BMS products within the assigned territory to meet or exceed sales targets in a compliant manner.
- Create demand for BMS medicines by articulating the clinical and scientific rationale for use in appropriate patients.
- Engage and continuously maintain a high level of scientific expertise in all assigned products and therapeutic areas.
- Prepare and successfully implement comprehensive territory and account plans.
- Proactively use available tools (e.g., SOPHIA) to derive insights and inform call plans, and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
- Demonstrate scientific expertise using approved resources, present information consistently with label, and participate in in‑office presentations such as lunch and learns.
- Organize external speaker programs, select approved speakers, and coordinate scheduling and logistics.
- Maintain expertise on emerging data for approved indications and engage real‑time medical support to answer complex inquiries.
- Collaborate proactively with field teams and internal stakeholders to ensure the best customer experience for HCPs.
- Gather and share relevant insights internally to enable BMS to better serve customers, while complying with all laws, regulations, and BMS policies.
- Advanced scientific degree and/or 5+ years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience as healthcare sales, MSL, HCP, or nurse.
- Ability to communicate scientific or clinical data accurately and convincingly to physicians.
- Experience building and maintaining strong credibility with key customers and the broader customer influence network.
- Experience in cardiovascular preferred.
- Strong account management skills, superior selling competencies, and proven sales performance tracking goals.
- Effective cross‑functional collaboration, positive team mindset, and can‑do attitude.
- Strong selling and promotional skills proven through a track record of performance.
- Experience calling on hospital‑based specialists (cardiologists, pharmacists, P&T committee stakeholders).
- Familiarity with hospital formulary access, pull‑through strategies, and institutional approval processes.
- Ability to engage multidisciplinary care teams across the continuum of care.
- Understanding of discharge planning and care transition workflows influencing prescribing decisions.
- Experience building relationships with integrated delivery network (IDN) or health‑system accounts.
- Drive business results and identify, engage, and cultivate credibility with customers across patient journeys.
- Demonstrate account management skills and problem‑solving mentality.
- Customize engagement and deliver tailored messages to diverse stakeholders.
- Resourceful and able to connect with customers.
- Understand the patient journey and experience.
- Maintain a patient‑focused mindset.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to articulate scientific and clinical data clearly to HCPs.
- Strong learning mindset, passion for science, and priority on staying current with latest data.
