Job SummaryReporting to the Director of Operations, the Dean’s Office Specialist performs administrative, technical, and analytical duties in support of the Dean, the Director, and departments within the College of Humanities, Social Sciences, and the Arts. The Specialist serves as a primary resource for university stakeholders, handling moderate complex matters of policy and practice, interpreting policies, conducting research, preparing reports, and providing general office assistance.
The role requires managing multiple priorities and maintaining confidentiality.
- Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent administrative training involving study, analysis, and evaluation of policies, procedures, practices, or programs.
- Three years of experience in office administration (preferred).
- Working knowledge of social‑media communications such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram (preferred).
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including English grammar, spelling, and punctuation (required).
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) (required).
- Knowledge of Google Suite, Qualtrics, Drupal, desktop publishing, and People Soft (preferred).
This is a full‑time, non‑exempt position that will lead toward permanent status after a probationary period. The CSU Classification Step Range for this position is $4,799–$6,992 per month (step 1 – step 20). Step placement is based on qualifications and experience, and will not exceed Step 1 ($4,799) upon appointment.
The position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave, and 15 paid holidays. The CSU Employee Union collective bargaining agreement Article 17.10 will be honored. Sonoma State University is a Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program Employer.
