Pre-Collegiate Program Assistant (Casual Worker)

Under the general supervision of the assigned site Program Manager, with additional lead work direction from the Associate Director of Pre‑Collegiate Programs, the Pre‑Collegiate Program Assistant provides academic, operational, and motivational support to Upward Bound and Academic Talent Search program participants in grades 6 through 12, and/or assists with programmatic needs to support individual programs to meet their annual objectives.
Key Qualifications- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Ability to communicate professionally with participants, parents, schools, and business professionals.
- Proficiency in typing and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and/or Google Applications (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
- Bilingual, English/Spanish preferred.
- Successful completion of a live scan fingerprinting for Sonoma State University, including at the assigned school site, and a TB test.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to learn and apply program information and instructions; problem‑solving; prioritization; confidentiality; timely and effective project completion; adaptability and flexibility.
Starting salary range: $17–$24 per hour. Part‑time, temporary, non‑exempt position. Reappointment depends on performance and administrative/budgetary considerations. The university reserves the right to terminate earlier than the scheduled expiration date.
