Job Summary

Reporting to the Associate Dean and serving as a member of the Collections and Technical Services team, the Electronic Resources Administrative Specialist (Specialist) performs specialized administrative, analytical, and program duties related to the electronic resource lifecycle, including license and renewal tracking, vendor communication, access troubleshooting, usage data collection and analysis, and workflow documentation for the University Library’s electronic resources. In addition, work involves participating in the development, alteration, implementation, and evaluation of administrative policies and procedures, while independently planning and conducting research, compiling data, and preparing and presenting reports with reliable conclusions and actionable recommendations.

The Specialist contributes to the completion of broad and more complex projects and goals, often providing project leadership or representing the unit on key projects and events while supporting the effective stewardship of library collections and responsive service to students, faculty, staff, and other library users. Contacts involve interaction with all levels inside and outside the university, and may include dealing with sensitive and confidential information.

Qualifications

This position requires a bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs, plus two or more years of related experience. Experience working in an academic library and managing library electronic resources, including one or more aspects of the e-resource lifecycle such as acquisition, activation, access management, renewal, troubleshooting, assessment, documentation, or cancellation is highly preferred.

Experience working in a consortial library environment with shared systems, collections, and e-resource management workflows; using collection assessment data (e.g., COUNTER reports, cost-per-use, overlap analysis, and renewal data) to support decision-making; and documenting workflows, improving procedures, providing training, and contributing to cross-functional projects is preferred. Intermediate proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) required. Knowledge of Google Suite, personnel scheduling software, library automated systems product, ExLibris Alma, Primo, and People Soft preferred.

Salary and Benefits

This is afull time, exempt position, which will lead toward permanent status following the successful completion of a probationary period. The CSU Classification Step Range for this position is $5,274 - $7,684per month (step 1 - step 20). Step placement will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience. Step placement upon appointment is not expected to exceed Step 3 ($5,488).

This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 15 paid holidays are offered each year. Sonoma State University is also a Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) Employer.
