A Bit About Us

We are working with a great full-service construction management firm that handles facilities construction — Heavily with schools and other public-works projects. Their services cover all phases of a project’s lifecycle pre-design/planning, design review, estimating and budgeting, scheduling, construction management, document control, closeout and commissioning.

Why join us?
  • Strong job security and demand — The construction-management sector tends to have steady demand.
  • Meaningful, tangible work and sense of accomplishment — One of the advantages of working in construction management is seeing real, physical results of your work — completed buildings, schools, infrastructure, etc. — which can be personally rewarding and satisfying.
  • Diverse and varied day-to-day work — Rather than a repetitive office-only job, construction management involves many different tasks planning, coordination, oversight, problem-solving, managing budgets and schedules, working with designers/contractors. That variety can keep things interesting.
  • Opportunities for career growth and skill development — In this field, there is potential to move up — taking on larger projects, more responsibility, mastering different aspects of construction, maybe even shifting into high-level management
  • Working on impactful and community-benefiting projects — Because firms like this often work on public-works projects and facilities (schools, infrastructure), employees get to contribute to community-oriented, meaningful work. That can add a sense of purpose beyond just “another job.” Based on the type of work described earlier for the firm you asked about.

The firm offers benefits such as health insurance, retirement/401(k), paid time off, maybe life/disability insurance.

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-driven Public Works Construction Administrator to support and manage the full lifecycle of public-works projects—from bidding and compliance through contract administration and ongoing project requirements. This role requires someone who can juggle multiple deadlines, think independently, and ensure every document, timeline, and requirement is executed accurately.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and manage public-works bidding processes, including DIR project registration, bid advertisements, addenda, timelines, and Board item submissions.
  • Review contracts, insurance certificates, and bonds to verify compliance with front-end documents and statutory requirements.
  • Coordinate contract execution, track required submissions, and maintain precise project schedules.
  • Supervise support staff and ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time.
  • Edit and prepare documents using Bluebeam or Adobe, and work confidently in Microsoft and Google Suites.
  • Assist with operational tasks such as fleet registration renewals and distribution of insurance documents and fuel cards.
  • Interpret and implement requirements tied to various delivery methods, including lease-leaseback, design-build, and design-bid-build.
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience in public-works construction administration or similar compliance-focused construction roles.
  • Strong technical skills in MS Office, Google Workspace, and PDF editing software.
  • Ability to independently solve problems, follow direction, and anticipate next steps without needing constant guidance.
  • Organized, proactive, and able to manage a high volume of tasks with accuracy and accountability.
  • Knowledge of public contract code, education code, DSA processes, and construction insurance requirements is highly preferred.

If you take ownership of your work, thrive in detail-heavy environments, and can confidently manage public-works requirements from start to finish, we’d love to hear from you.
