The Associate Lighting Designer is a full-time, hybrid role based in Sonoma, CA, supporting the design and documentation of lighting solutions for residential, commercial, and hospitality projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing lighting plans, fixture schedules, and control layouts; assisting with design concepts; and producing drawings, renderings, and presentations in coordination with the design lead. The role involves collaborating with project teams, attending client and consultant meetings, and incorporating feedback into design revisions.

The Associate Lighting Designer will also assist with product research, specification reviews, and coordination with vendors and contractors to help ensure accurate installation and project delivery. This position requires consistent on-site presence for team collaboration, project reviews, and occasional site visits.

• Candidates should possess skills in Lighting Design and general Lighting principles to support concept development and project execution.
• Candidates should possess skills in Architectural Lighting to integrate lighting solutions with building systems and architectural intent.
• Candidates should possess skills in Lighting Control to help design control systems that support usability, energy efficiency, and project requirements.
• Proficiency with design and documentation tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar CAD/BIM software; familiarity with lighting calculation software is beneficial.
• Strong visual, technical, and written communication skills, with the ability to interpret architectural drawings and convey design ideas clearly.
• Ability to work collaboratively on-site in a team environment, manage multiple deadlines, and maintain attention to detail across project phases.
• Relevant education in Lighting Design, Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field; prior experience in a lighting or design studio is preferred but not necessary if other applicable experience and knowledge exists.
