Job Summary

Reporting to and under the direction of the Senior Director for Student Financial Services and Tax Compliance, the Student Accounts and Receivables Representative ensures that reconciliations, billings, and collections in the Student Finance and Receivables Unit are completed accurately and in a timely manner. The incumbent acts as a central point of contact for campus clients who seek support and resolution of general accounts receivable questions.

Qualifications

The position requires the equivalent to a bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting, business administration, finance or a closely related field or a combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. The incumbent must demonstrate a general knowledge of accounting theory, principles and practices supported by education and job experience.

Governmental and/or CSU accounting experience desirable, as well as previous experience with financial accounting systems. Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) required. People Soft Financials experience is highly preferred.

Salary and Benefits

This is a full‑time, non‑exempt position, which will lead toward permanent status following the successful completion of a probationary period. The CSU Classification Step Range for this position is $4,570 – $6,658 per month (steps 1 – 20). Step placement will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience. Step placement upon appointment is not expected to exceed Step 8 ($5,250 a month).

This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 15 paid holidays are offered each year. Sonoma State University is also a Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) Employer.
