Why Sonoma Wealth Advisors?
Sonoma Wealth Advisors is not your typical financial services firm — we are a rapidly growing, integrated wealth management organization where tax, financial planning, investment management, and business advisory services work in true concert. Our clients don’t just get tax advice; they get a team that sees the full picture of their financial life.

This is your opportunity to step into a high-impact leadership role at a firm where your expertise will cross business units, shape client outcomes, and directly influence how we grow. If you are a licensed CPA or EA who thrives on complexity, loves solving client problems, and wants to be part of something bigger than a traditional tax practice — keep reading.

The Role

The Senior Tax Manager is a cornerstone of Sonoma Wealth’s integrated service model. You will lead our tax operations across multiple office locations — managing and developing a talented team, reviewing and preparing sophisticated tax work, and serving as a trusted advisor to our high-net-worth individual and business clients.

You will collaborate closely with our financial planners, investment advisors, and business consulting teams to deliver the kind of holistic, proactive guidance that keeps our clients coming back and referring others. This role is for someone who leads by example, elevates those around them, and sees tax not as a commodity but as a powerful tool for client success.

What You’ll DoLead & Inspire Your Team

Oversee daily tax operations across multiple office locations, setting the standard for excellence, consistency, and compliance with firm values.

Mentor, train, and develop professional tax staff and administrative support — building careers while building the firm.

Manage workflow strategy to ensure every return is filed accurately and on time, every season.

Partner with firm leadership on hiring decisions, performance management, and long‑range team development.

Deliver World‑Class Tax Expertise

Review complex individual, corporate, partnership, fiduciary, and specialty tax returns prepared by your team — and prepare the most sophisticated work yourself when needed.

Serve high‑net‑worth individuals and business clients with the depth of expertise that justifies their trust.

Lead quality control and compliance reviews ensuring every return meets IRS and state standards without exception.

Stay ahead of evolving tax law and proactively translate changes into actionable insights for clients and colleagues.

Be a Trusted Advisor — Not Just a Tax Preparer

Meet regularly with clients to discuss tax strategy, planning opportunities, and the proactive moves that make a real difference in their financial lives.

Provide expert counsel on multi‑state filings, entity structuring, business transitions, and other high‑stakes tax matters.

Collaborate directly with Sonoma Wealth’s financial planning and investment teams to deliver fully integrated client recommendations.

Build deep, lasting client relationships that reflect the Sonoma Wealth standard of excellence.

Drive Operational Excellence

Oversee scheduling, workflow systems, and administrative functions across all office locations.

Champion firm procedures for document handling, client data protection, and recordkeeping.

Identify and implement improvements to internal processes, technology platforms, and overall office efficiency.

Collaborate with firm leadership on strategic planning, budgeting, and growth initiatives — because your voice matters here.

REQUIRED — Non‑Negotiable

Active CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or EA (Enrolled Agent) license — this is a firm requirement and will be verified.

Minimum 3–5 years of progressive tax experience with demonstrated supervisory or management responsibilities.

Strong command of individual and business tax preparation, review, and compliance.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.

Strongly Preferred

Master’s degree in Taxation or related field.

Experience managing multiple office locations or large, multi‑level tax teams.

Proficiency with professional tax software such as Lacerte, Ultra Tax, Pro Series, or similar platforms.

A collaborative mindset and genuine excitement about working alongside wealth management, financial planning, and business advisory professionals.
