Summary
Create Mill and Lathe Programs from Customer drawings and CAD files for a variety of CNC machines using CAM software, while meeting business unit quality requirements. Working with extremely tight tolerances as we are working in Medical Device and Aerospace industries.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Develop programs for CNC mills and lathes, maximizing quality and output
- Write programs for 3, 4, and 5 axis machining centers including complex surfaces
- Create user friendly programs for minimally skilled operators, with focus on ease of use
- Troubleshoot and edit programs at machines as required
- Provide tooling and fixturing recommendations as applicable
- Maintain electronic files for all programs
- Continually work to improve and optimize programs
- Create PO requisitions to order material, cutters, tooling, etc for new jobs
- Create documentation necessary to manufacture parts
- Stay current with the latest technology and software upgrades
- Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors, vendors and customers
- Perform safe operation of machines
- Read and understand drawings, specifications, and documentation
- Complete all required paperwork
- Keep work area clean and organized at all times
- Abide by and support all safety and quality system requirements
- Provide good feedback and promote good communication
- Attendance/Punctuality – consistently at work and on time
- Dependability – follows instructions, responds to management direction
- Quality – demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; monitors own work to ensure quality
- Safety and Security – observes safety and security procedures; reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properly
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Requires great attention to detail and ability to read drawings and specifications
- Previous experience machining or programming required
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

- Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls
- Frequently required to talk and hear and occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Must regularly lift and or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
- Work near moving mechanical parts
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud
- Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts
