CNC Programmer​/Machinist

Summary

Create Mill and Lathe Programs from Customer drawings and CAD files for a variety of CNC machines using CAM software, while meeting business unit quality requirements. Working with extremely tight tolerances as we are working in Medical Device and Aerospace industries.

• Develop programs for CNC mills and lathes, maximizing quality and output
• Write programs for 3, 4, and 5 axis machining centers including complex surfaces
• Create user friendly programs for minimally skilled operators, with focus on ease of use
• Troubleshoot and edit programs at machines as required
• Provide tooling and fixturing recommendations as applicable
• Maintain electronic files for all programs
• Continually work to improve and optimize programs
• Create PO requisitions to order material, cutters, tooling, etc for new jobs
• Create documentation necessary to manufacture parts
• Stay current with the latest technology and software upgrades
• Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors, vendors and customers
• Perform safe operation of machines
• Read and understand drawings, specifications, and documentation
• Complete all required paperwork
• Keep work area clean and organized at all times
• Abide by and support all safety and quality system requirements
• Provide good feedback and promote good communication

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Requires great attention to detail and ability to read drawings and specifications
• Previous experience machining or programming required

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
• Ability to write simple correspondence
• Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization

• Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
• Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

• Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls

• Must regularly lift and or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus

• Work near moving mechanical parts
• Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud
• Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts
