Duties
* Actively supporting the mission of the school and district, "Students First, Always."
* Create and maintain a safe classroom atmosphere that builds relationships with students while providing structure and routines conducive to learning.
* Provide opportunities for all students to experience success, based upon their individual ability and potential.
* Plan and implement lessons in accordance with the Illinois Standards for Language Arts.
* Plan and implement lessons for an elective course agreed upon by the admin and teacher. Work with the curriculum coordinator to select appropriate standards with which to report student learning.
* Assess, monitor, and report out on student progress through standards-referenced instruction and grading.
* Actively collaborate with content teams and the Special Education Department to design curriculum and assessments appropriate for students of all ability levels.
* Facilitate Response to Intervention Tier 2 and 3 instruction.
* Participate in school improvement initiatives.
* Participate in the problem solving team process of MTSS, and implement SEL curriculum and Tier 1 and 2 Social/Emotional supports.
* Inform parents and students of academic and behavioral progress, concerns, and long-range expectations.
* Analyze student academic data to improve individual student and school-wide performance.
Qualifications
Qualified applicants would possess a passion for teaching English to middle school students grades 7th and 8th. In addition, candidates must possess a valid Illinois Substitute Teaching Lilcense.
