The Middle School Math and Reading Interventionist is a full-time, on-site role based in South Beloit, IL. This position focuses on providing targeted academic support in math and reading to middle school students who require additional assistance to meet grade-level expectations. Day-to-day responsibilities include administering and interpreting assessments, planning and delivering small-group and one-on-one intervention lessons, and collaborating with classroom teachers to align intervention strategies with core curriculum.
The Interventionist monitors student progress, maintains accurate records, and communicates regularly with families and school staff about student growth and needs. The role also involves participating in professional development, contributing to intervention planning teams, and supporting a positive, inclusive school climate.
- Demonstrated expertise in middle school mathematics instruction, including foundational concepts, problem-solving, and differentiated strategies for diverse learners.
- Strong reading and literacy instruction skills, including experience with decoding, fluency, comprehension strategies, and vocabulary development.
- Ability to use assessment tools and data to identify student needs, plan interventions, monitor progress, and adjust instruction based on evidence.
- Effective classroom and small-group management skills, with the ability to build rapport, encourage student engagement, and maintain a supportive learning environment.
- Collaborative skills for working with teachers, support staff, and families to coordinate interventions and communicate student progress and goals.
- Proficiency with basic educational technology and digital resources to support instruction, assessment, and documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; valid teaching license or eligibility for licensure in the state of Illinois preferred.
- Experience in middle school settings or intervention roles is beneficial, as is familiarity with multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) or Response to Intervention (RTI) frameworks.
- Commitment to equitable, inclusive practices and the ability to support students from varied backgrounds and learning profiles.
