Job SummaryThe Manual Grinder will work with Chamfer Grinders, and other various manual machines to produce premium quality, high precision, cutting tools.
Will verify accuracy by using engineering prints, componentdrawings, assembly drawings, and engineering specifications.
Use hardware on the build sheets to assemble final product to print specifications.
- Responsible for the setup and offsets as required.
- Studiesblueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part todeterminedimensions and tolerances for finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
- Verifies conformance of finishedworkpiece to specifications.
- Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and material on machines such as mills, lathes, grinder sand shapers.
- Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors and speed, feed, depth, and angle cut.
- Check machinerydailyto ensure functionality.
- Other duties assigned.
- Use prints andbillof materials to assemble final product.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
- Certification from a qualified training institution in the field of machining is preferred but not required.
- Minimumof 1 year machine shop experience is required.
- Experience with
Surface
Grinders is preferred.
- Strong math skillsrequiredto performday to day operations including the ability to convert metric to inch and decimal to fraction.
- Ability to accurately read blueprints.
- Ability to calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
- Ability to machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines and grinders.
- Ability to measure, examine, and test completed toolsin order todetect defects and ensure conformance with specifications.
- Ability to set up, adjust, andoperatebasic machine toolsin order toperform precision machining operations.
- Ability tomonitorfeeds and speeds of machines during the machining process.
- Prolonged periods of standing with some lifting, bending, and twisting.
- Ability tolift upto 50 pounds.
- Ability to stoop,bendor kneel when required.
