Quality Assurance Technician II

Thompson Pipe Group is a privately held family business of engineers, technicians, contractors, and manufacturers based in Rialto, California. We are a leading provider of drainage, sanitary, pressure and trench-less pipe products with locations across the United States and North America.

Thompson Pipe Group is currently looking for a Quality Assurance Technician II. This role collaborates with production, operations, engineering, and project management to assure the highest level of quality in all Thompson Pipe Group – Pressure products.

• Quality Requirements: study and understand the TPG quality manual and repair procedures; study and understand the codes, specifications, drawings, and procedures used in daily operations.
• Testing: proficient in hand tools, power tools, and laboratory equipment; collect, prepare, process, and report material samples (e.g., production weld specimens, concrete specimens, cement mortar lining); proctor qualification testing of welders and welding operators and complete test records/logs.
• Inspection: proficient with inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges, holiday testing equipment, thickness gauges); execute, evaluate, and report inspections of pieces and parts from various departments and qualified vendors, including in-process and final inspections (coating, concrete, dimensional, lining, loading, welding methods).
• Examination: conduct, evaluate, and report nondestructive examination/testing (NDE/NDT) of parts and interface with inspection/examination vendors.
• Audits: independently conduct internal audits as assigned by Quality management.
• Training: conduct training of lesser-experienced personnel as assigned by Quality management.
• Documentation: complete and maintain QA inspection and test reports and records; maintain calibration, certification, and laboratory reports; review, status, and close-out production records and quality control reports; prepare and complete nonconformance reports and nonconforming product logs.
• Professional Development and Growth: maintain on-the-job training records; maintain current certifications and seek new or higher certifications (e.g., ACI, AWS, NACE/SPCC, NDE/NDT).
• Perform other duties as may be assigned by Quality supervision.

• Previous experience in a QA, QC, or production role in a related industry.
• Experience in one or more technologies: concrete, civil, coatings, welding, and NDE/NDT.
• Qualified by experience and training (classroom, OJT) with certifications such as: ACI Field Test Technician; NDE/NDT MT, PT, RT, UT, VT (ASNT SNT-TC-1A or NAS 410); NACE/SPCC Coating Inspector; or API 510, 570, 577, or similar (Level I/equivalent).
• Qualified by experience and training for Level II/equivalent in one or more areas: ACI Field Test Technician; AWS CWI (preferred) or CAWI; NDE/NDT MT, PT, RT, UT, VT (ASNT SNT-TC-1A or NAS 410); NACE/SPCC Coating Inspector; or API 510, 570, 577, or similar.
• High school diploma or GED; trade school diploma or certificate in related technology (concrete, civil, coatings, welding, NDE/NDT); STEM-related associate’s or bachelor’s degree.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; bilingual in English and Spanish.
