Location: South Bend, IN (Fully Onsite)
Salary: $120,000 – $160,000 + Bonus Potential
We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Controller to lead our accounting and finance function in South Bend, Indiana. This is a high-impact leadership role for an experienced accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and enjoys building strong teams while driving financial performance. The ideal candidate has demonstrated career progression, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to balance hands-on execution with long-term strategic planning.
KeyResponsibilities
- Lead and mentor the accounting team while overseeing all day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and continuous professional development.
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process, delivering timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Provide strategic financial leadership by partnering with executive management on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, financial analysis, and business planning initiatives.
- Develop and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial processes while identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency and scalability.
- Oversee high-volume accounting activities including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Coordinate annual audits, tax support, and compliance activities while serving as the primary contact for external auditors and business partners.
- Analyze financial results, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations that support organizational growth and profitability.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable culture while developing talent and preparing the department for future growth.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred.
- Minimum 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with a proven record of career advancement into leadership roles.
- Demonstrated success leading accounting teams in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and month-end close.
- Strategic, visionary leader with the ability to influence decision-making and drive continuous improvement across the organization.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership skills with the ability to build strong cross-functional relationships.
