What You'll Do:

As an Estimator, you will lead cost estimating for commercial construction projects ensuring the company remains competitive and profitable while meeting set deadlines.

Your Accountabilities in the Role:
  • Leads the full estimating lifecycle for commercial construction projects, from bid review and scope of definition through proposal submission.
  • Reviews drawings, blueprints, and project specifications of work to assess project scope and feasibility.
  • Solicits, evaluates and negotiates subcontractor and vendor pricing, ensuring complete coverage of required bid items.
  • Develops detailed quantity of take-offs, cost build-ups (labor, material, equipment, subcontractors), and contingency/risk allowances.
  • Maintains and updates historical cost databases, production rate libraries, and unit cost benchmarks.
  • Prepares and presents estimate summaries, bid cost breakdowns, cash flow estimates, and recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Ensures on-time bid submissions and manages internal bid tracking to meet deadlines.
  • Collaborates with engineers and operations to review constructability, value-engineering alternatives, and schedule impacts.
  • Participates in site visits and pre-bid meetings to gain firsthand understanding of field conditions.
  • Supports hand-off of awarded bids to operations/project teams and assists in change-order estimating as needed.
Position Requirements :
  • Education:

    Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive estimating experience in commercial construction.
  • Certification(s): N/A
  • Functional

    Skills:

    Strong knowledge of commercial construction; able to interpret construction drawings and specifications. Excellent numerical, analytical, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines. Detail-oriented with excellent negotiation skills.
  • Technology Aptitude/

    Skills:

    Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, CRM, and estimating software (experience with software such as Bluebeam, Pro Core and other commercial construction estimating platforms preferred).
  • Language

    Skills:

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills needed to communicate with all levels inside and outside the organization.
  • Leadership/Behaviors:
    Self-motivated;
    Able to work independently and within a team environment. Able to mentor and lead others.
