Assistant Professor of Foundations and Secondary Education with Expertise in Educational Research
The School of Education at Indiana University South Bend is seeking a full‑time, tenure‑track faculty Assistant Professor of Secondary/Foundation of Education with training and knowledge of Educational Research practices. This position will be instrumental in aligning the program with state requirements related to the use of science‑based reading curriculum and enhancing literacy outcomes.
Responsibilities will include:
- The full‑time load (100% FTE) is 12 credit hours (typically four courses) each fall and spring semester, with one course (25% FTE) reassigned for scholarly and creative activities per university & campus policies.
- Teaching in the summer is voluntary and compensated separately.
- Courses may be in‑person, online, hybrid, or other formats, and may be offered in the evenings/weekends and off‑campus partner locations.
- Candidate is establishing or continuing a robust research agenda, aspiring to develop a national or international presence in their field and familiar with quantitative, qualitative, or mixed‑methods research techniques.
- Assisting in school/division‑level data planning, collection, and analysis as needed.
- Providing service to the school, college, campus, and university and participating in shared governance activities.
- Working collaboratively with faculty from across campuses, K‑12 schools, and outside agencies.

Basic Qualifications- Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Educational Research or related field.
- 5+ years of secondary‑level teaching experience (6‑12 years).
- Ability to demonstrate expertise in Educational Research Methods.
- Demonstration of excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Strong teaching and research skills.
- Proven experience and proficiency in teaching across various higher education platforms, including online, blended, and face‑to‑face formats.
- Experience with or understanding of Accreditation.
- Expertise in Action Research.
- 2+ years’ experience within a Higher Education setting.
- Experience or familiarity with the Indiana state‑mandated requirement on the use of science‑based reading curriculum.
