The Music Teacher provides engaging, developmentally appropriate music instruction to students in multiple grade levels. This part-time role supports the school’s mission by fostering a love of music, encouraging creativity, and integrating faith-based values into the learning environment. The teacher will lead general music classes and may assist with liturgical music, school programs, and special events.

Teach general music classes using age-appropriate curriculum, including singing, rhythm, movement, listening skills, and basic music theory.

Incorporate Catholic values and support the spiritual mission of the school through music selections, classroom culture, and participation in liturgical celebrations.

Prepare students for performances, such as Christmas programs, spring concerts, or school assemblies.

Collaborate with faculty and administration to plan music for school Masses or prayer services (if applicable).

Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and creativity.

Assess student progress through informal and formal methods and communicate effectively with families as needed.

Maintain classroom materials and instruments, ensuring a safe and organized learning space.

Participate in staff meetings or professional development as required for part-time faculty.

Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Teaching license preferred but not always required for part-time roles.

Experience working with children in an educational or musical setting.

Ability to play piano or guitar is helpful, especially for liturgical music.

Strong communication, organization, and classroom-management skills.

Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.

Part-time, typically 2-3 days per week.

Additional hours may be required for concerts, Masses, or special events.

The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about nurturing students’ musical abilities while supporting their spiritual and personal growth. A willingness to participate in the faith life of the school community is essential, though the teacher does not need to be Catholic unless your diocese requires it.
