The Department of Philosophy at Indiana University South Bend invites applications for a one-year Visiting Lecturer Professor position for the 2026-27 academic year with an opportunity of renewal for the 2027-28 academic year. We are seeking an engaging instructor to join our collegial department and contribute to our undergraduate curriculum. The AOS is open and the AOC is Ethics and Critical Thinking.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellent teaching and student mentorship. Lecturers are expected to collaborate with other faculty and staff to promote student success, as well as to participate in service activities to the department, school, campus, or community, such as course coordination, regularly attending and participating in faculty meetings, and serving on relevant committees. The position will require teaching 12 credit hours (4-courses) during each of the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters.
Faculty will teach mostly in person at the main IUSB campus, but may be required to teach evening, off-site, or online course as well. The candidate will develop and deliver course content for assigned undergraduate courses, which include introductory-level courses such as Critical Thinking & Applied Ethics, Critical Thinking, and Introduction to Philosophy. An ability to teach a course in feminist philosophy and/or scientific reasoning and/or cognitive science is a plus but not required.
The position requires holding regular office hours to provide support and guidance to students.

At least an M.A. in philosophy, but Ph.D. in Philosophy (or be ABD) preferred by the time of appointment. Evidence of effective and innovative teaching at the undergraduate level. Effective oral and written communication skills. A demonstrated ability to teach both face-to-face and online classes.
Preferred
Basic Qualifications:
Prior teaching experience in a similar higher education environment. Evidence of strong commitment to ongoing professional development.
