Assumes major responsibility for counseling and guidance services for students assigned at the building level.

• Scheduling students in their program of studies.
• Implement testing program.
• Act as a consultant to parents regarding their child and his/her progress and/or adjustment.
• Participate in the 8-Step Process of instruction and remediation/enrichment.
• Provide personal counseling for students experiencing adjustment difficulties.
• Use data to guide instructional decision making and work collaboratively in a Professional Learning Community.
• Consult teachers regarding individual students with learning and/or behavior problems.
• Guide students regarding career development.
• Help students obtain financial aid for post-high school education.
• Refer students to outside agencies for help when necessary.
• Register and orient new students.
• Assist with the coordination of case conferences.
• Have urban education experience and extensive background in designing and implementing innovative programming for adolescent students and families.

• Master’s degree in guidance and counseling.
• Indiana State license in school counseling.
• Experience with high school age students.
• Observed ability to establish strong rapport with students and adults.
• Must not currently be on a Performance Improvement Plan.

• Works in standard office and school building environments.
• Must be able to work regularly scheduled hours.
• Must be able to handle stress.
