Position Overview
The Part-Time Art Teacher supports the mission of the school by providing students with a creative, engaging, and developmentally appropriate visual arts education. This role blends artistic instruction with the values of a Catholic learning environment, helping students explore their creativity while fostering respect, responsibility, and appreciation for beauty and craftsmanship.
Key ResponsibilitiesPlan and deliver age-appropriate art lessons for elementary and/or middle school students that introduce a variety of artistic techniques, media, and art history.
Create a positive, inclusive, and faith-aligned classroom environment that encourages creativity, curiosity, and confidence.
Integrate Catholic values into classroom culture and, when appropriate, into lesson themes (e.g., sacred art, liturgical seasons, symbolism).
Prepare and maintain the art classroom, materials, and equipment.
Assess student progress through observation, projects, and informal evaluations; provide constructive feedback.
Display student artwork throughout the school and assist with art exhibits, school events, or liturgical celebrations.
Collaborate with faculty and administration to support school wide initiatives and maintain consistent communication with families.
Ensure safety procedures are followed when using art tools and materials.
Model professionalism , respect, and the mission of Catholic education in all interactions.
QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Art Education , Fine Arts , or a related field (teaching license preferred but not always required depending on school policy).
Experience working with children in an educational or artistic setting.
Strong classroom management and communication skills.
Ability to teach a range of art techniques and media.
Commitment to supporting the Catholic identity and mission of the school.
Creativity, flexibility, and enthusiasm for working in a small, community-oriented school environment.
Part-time position, typically 2–3 days per week.
Responsible for teaching multiple grade levels with appropriate planning time included.
Attendance at select school events or staff meetings may be required.
Physical & Environmental RequirementsAbility to lift and move classroom materials (up to ~25 lbs).
Comfort working with paints, clay, and other art supplies.
Ability to supervise students safely in a hands-on learning environment.
