GENERAL PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:
Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
  • Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Develops, maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials, and maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning, leading to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College and demonstrating active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning.
  • Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines, and expectations.
  • Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs, and all learning environments.

All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

Supervision Received: Program Chair, Department Chair, or Dean

Compensation: $47.35 per contract hour

Education, Experience, and Other Requirements

Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to the area of instruction and meet faculty credentials as outlined in the ASOM 7.1 for the specific area(s) of instruction. Conducts all activities with an appreciation, respect, and promotion of diversity of people, styles, and views.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Meets the technical course standard through one of the following routes:
    • Full‑time faculty discipline standard.
    • Department of Labor, Bureau for Apprenticeship Training recognized journeyman’s card in the discipline directly related to credentials, certifications, and competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR), and has journeyman status for two years or more with experience specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record.
  • Possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR).
  • Has at least five years of directly related work experience in the field.
  • Possesses a current Workplace Specialist License, Technology Education License (Technology and Engineering Education, Engineering and Technology Education), or CTE Trade & Industrial Engineer or Manufacturing License granted by the Indiana Department of Education, appropriate to course objectives and directly linked to credentials, certifications, and competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record.

  • AGRI 110 (Introduction to Agricultural Business and Economics):
    Master’s or higher degree in Agricultural Economics, Agriculture Education, or a Master of Business Administration (MBA).
  • AGRI 111 (Crop Production):
    Master’s or higher degree in Agronomy or Agriculture Education.
  • AGRI 112 (Fundamentals of Horticulture):
    Master’s or higher degree in Horticulture or Agriculture Education.
  • AGRI 113 (Animal Agriculture):
    Master’s or higher degree in Animal Science or Agriculture Education.
  • AGRI 114 (Introduction to Agricultural Systems):
    Master’s or higher degree in Agricultural and Biological Engineering, Agricultural Systems, Management, Agronomy, Animal Science, Agricultural Economics, or Agriculture Education.
  • AGRI 209 (Agricultural Commodity Marketing):
    Bachelor’s or higher degree in Agricultural and Biological Engineering, Agriculture Education, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Systems Management, Agronomy, Animal Science, Botany, Horticulture, Plant Science, or other agriculture-related discipline; or holding a Series 3 commodity futures broker license from NASD.
