General Purpose and Scope of Position
Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. They are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals and for providing effective instruction and assessment within common syllabi. Adjunct Faculty mentor, share clinical expertise, and foster student-centered instruction to promote professional growth, critical thinking, ethical practice, and lifelong learning. Faculty serve as role models who help students develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary to provide high-quality respiratory care and positively impact the communities they serve.

- Facilitate student learning by delivering assigned courses per college policy and course objectives.
- Use available technology to enhance instructional methods.
- Develop and maintain course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
- Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
- Engage with students in meaningful ways that impact learning and lead to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College.
- Implement active classroom teaching strategies that engage students with their learning.
- Interact with students and co-workers professionally and cooperatively, complying with college policies, campus guidelines, and expectations.
- Implement emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs, and all learning environments.
- Complete any additional duties logically associated with the position, within FERPA and other regulatory requirements and professional standards.
1. Provide academic-related coaching and monitoring to assigned student advisees in partnership with advisory staff.
2. Monitor and document student performance throughout the semester, including the use of technology for academic advising alerts; provide necessary interventions, communication, tutoring, and referrals to appropriate resources.
3. Maintain posted office hours and student engagement hours in accordance with campus expectations and faculty loading policy.
4. Promote and assist in student recruitment, retention, and successful completion of programs, including outreach by phone, technology tools, and other electronic means.
Minimum Qualifications- Qualified faculty member teaching lab portions of RESP 101, 102, 104, and 202 meets the program standard, or
- Possesses an earned associate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution and academic preparation appropriate to the course(s) taught.
- Is a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
- Holds an Indiana-licensed Respiratory Therapy Practitioner (RTP).
- Has four years direct experience in Respiratory Therapy.
Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to the area of instruction and meet faculty credentials as outlined in the ASOM 7.1 for the specific area(s) of instruction.
