Training Instructor / Specialist
The Automotive Skilled Trades Instructor plays a key role in delivering high-quality, hands-on training for participants in Goodwill Industries of Michiana’s Automotive Skilled Trades Training Program. In this part-time position, the instructor supports skill development in entry-level automotive repair through an ASE-aligned curriculum that reflects current industry standards and workforce needs. This role focuses on teaching essential automotive concepts such as safety, diagnostics, repair fundamentals, brakes, steering and suspension, and engine systems, while also reinforcing professional skills like communication, reliability, and customer service.

• Teach core concepts including automotive safety, customer service, basic automotive theory and repair, proper use of hand and power tools, use of diagnostic equipment, Brakes, steering, suspension, and engine repair
• Collaborate with Program Coordinators, Success Coaches, Career Navigators, and employer partners to support participant success
• Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that accommodates a range of learning styles and experience levels
• Develop, update, and facilitate automotive curriculum and lesson plans
• Maintain accurate attendance records, participant progress notes, and required program documentation
• Deliver engaging, hands‑on instruction aligned with ASE standards.

• Build a positive, inclusive learning environment for students of varying skill levels
Qualifications:
• Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance
• Core 40 High School Diploma (Associates Degree related to industry preferred)
• Current ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification or ability to obtain
• Previous teaching experience
• Associate’s degree preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the automotive industry
• Workplace Specialist License or the ability to obtain
• Hunter Alignment Certified preferred
• Comprehensive knowledge of entry-level ASE certification standards and requirements Compensation: $21 hourly
