GENERAL PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:
Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as‑needed basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with college policy and course objectives.
  • Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Develops and maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
  • Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, showing evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).
  • Interacts with students and co‑workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with college policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
  • Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.
Minimum Requirements
  • ACCT
    101 and ACCT
    102 qualified faculty meet the course standard through one of two routes:
    • Possesses an earned master’s or higher degree in accounting from a regionally accredited institution.
    • Possesses an earned master’s degree in a related business field from a regionally accredited institution with documented 21 post‑secondary semester hours in accounting.
  • Accounting Program Standard qualified faculty meet the program standard through one of five routes:
    • Possesses an earned master’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in accounting.
    • Possesses an earned related or out‑of‑field master’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, with documented 18 post‑secondary semester hours or equivalent of courses in accounting beyond the introductory principle(s) level.
    • Possesses an earned related or out‑of‑field master’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, with documentation in two or more of the following:
      • In‑field professional certification (national, regional, or state)
      • Three years of in‑field professional employment
      • Documented evidence of teaching excellence, including date of award
      • Documentation of research and publication in the field
      • Documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU’s, vendor, or military
    • Possesses an earned bachelor’s degree in accounting, from a regionally accredited institution, with documentation in two or more of the following:
      • In‑field professional certification (national, regional, or state)
      • Two years of in‑field professional employment
      • Documented evidence of teaching excellence, including date of award
      • Documentation of research and publication in the field
      • Documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU’s, vendor, or military
    • Possesses an earned bachelor’s degree in a related business field from a regionally accredited institution with an active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.
Compensation

Compensation: $47.35 per contracted hour.
