Summary Overview

Position Summary
:

The instrumental music teacher is a highly qualified and state certified teacher responsible for delivering instrumental music content in a differentiated manner that is aligned with state standards and district expectations.

Duties
  • Qualified teaching candidates will provide instruction, support and guidance, manage the learning process and focus on individual needs. The teacher is well-versed in the maintenance and care of musical instruments, including inventory documentation and student rentals.
  • The teacher will be an effective classroom manager, supervising students at all times.
  • May require travel to multiple schools.
  • Courses may include General Music as well as Instrumental classes.
  • Collaborate with other staff members and work actively with parents as well as other community partners.
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies to engage students, along with a consistent plan for student growth and rehearsing for performances.
  • Integrate cross‑curricular content and connections to increase student engagement and academic achievement.
  • Plan and implement student performances each semester outside of the school day, and participate in scheduled community celebrations and competitions as they become available.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Licensed and highly qualified in the area of Instrumental and General Music.
  • Applicants must not have had a recommendation for Probation Assistance on their most recent evaluation.
  • Participate in professional development and professional learning communities.
Education & Experience
  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in music education or performance.
  • Experience in performance, playing a musical instrument, and directing an ensemble.
  • Experience working with students in an educational environment.
Technical & Functional Competencies
  • Able to provide transportation to and from work as well as events off‑site.
  • Able to lift and move musical instruments and equipment (50 lbs or less).
Required Abilities
  • Use of educational technology, including Power School, Google Docs/Sheets, email and more.
  • Highly organized.
