Major Responsibilities
- Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
- Uses available technology to enhance instructional methods.
- Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
- Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
- Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience, including the use of active classroom teaching strategies.
- Monitors and documents student performance throughout the semester, including use of technology for academic advising alerts, providing necessary interventions (communication, tutoring, and referrals to college resources).
- Interacts with students and co-workers professionally, complying with College policies, campus guidelines, and expectations.
- Implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs, and all learning environments.
HIRING RANGE: $47.35 per contact hour.
Other duties logically associated with this position may be assigned.
Education, Experience and Other RequirementsMust have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instruction and meet faculty credentials as outlined in the ASOM 7.1 for the specific area(s) of instruction.
Must conduct all activities with an appreciation, respect, and promotion of diversity.
Microbiology Standard: A qualified faculty member in microbiology meets the biology discipline standard through one of two routes: (1) Possesses an earned master’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in a biological science, or (2) Possesses an earned master’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in any field with 18 graduate semester hours in biology-related courses.
Official transcripts are required from the time of hire sent directly from the issuing institution to the Office of Human Resources.
