GENERAL PURPOSE AND SCOPE

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as‑needed basis. They create a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals and provide effective instruction and assessment within the framework of the common syllabi provided.

Ivy Tech Community College – South Bend.

Employment Type:

Part Time. Compensation: $47.35 / contract hour.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Facilitate student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with college policy, course objectives, and the instructional needs of the Bilingual Entrepreneurship Program track.
  • Provide high‑quality instruction in Spanish (primary language) while effectively communicating in English as required.
  • Make optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Develop, maintain, and update course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
  • Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other required documentation.
  • Engage with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact learning and lead to a positive experience with the institution.
  • Implement active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning.
  • Interact with students and co‑workers in a professional and cooperative manner and comply with college policies, campus guidelines, and expectations.
  • Ensure knowledge and implementation of emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs, and all learning environments.
  • Perform other duties logically associated with the position as reasonably assigned.
  • Conduct all responsibilities within the parameters of FERPA, applicable regulations, and professional standards.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Qualified faculty member in the Entrepreneurship program meeting the program standard with a minimum of 3 years of entrepreneurial and/or intrapreneurial experience.
  • Completion of the RISE (Readiness Inventory for Successful Entrepreneurship) Training.
  • Meeting one of the following educational criteria:
    • Earned master’s degree or higher in entrepreneurship, business administration, management, marketing or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
    • Earned related or out‑of‑field master’s degree with at least 18 semester hours of advanced entrepreneurship/management coursework.
    • Earned related or out‑of‑field master’s degree with documentation in two or more of: professional field related certification, >3 years of entrepreneurial experience, research and publication, or supplemental coursework equivalent to 18 semester hours.
    • Earned bachelor’s degree in entrepreneurship, business administration or related field with documentation of at least one of: professional certification, ≥3 years of entrepreneurial experience, research/publication, or supplemental coursework equivalent to 18 semester hours.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Native or professional‑level fluency in Spanish; professional working proficiency in English.
  • Teaching primarily in Spanish with English proficiency, experience developing bilingual instructional materials, and experience supporting a culturally and linguistically diverse student population.
  • Earned master’s or bachelor’s degree in entrepreneurship, business administration, management, marketing or related field with ≥5 years of entrepreneurial/intrapreneurial experience.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching bilingual or Spanish‑speaking adult learners.
  • At least one year of teaching experience at the college or university level.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to the area of instruction and meet faculty credentials as outlined in ASOM 7.1 for the specific area(s) of instruction. Conduct all activities with appreciation, respect, and promotion of diversity.
