Basic Function: Individuals must be able to teach high school EL students at all grade levels (9‑12), including but not limited to Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Pre‑Calculus, and Calculus.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Display professionalism and the ability to work cooperatively with others.
• Be highly skilled in classroom management and student engagement.
• Skillfully use differentiated instructional strategies to meet individual learning styles and demonstrate experience implementing innovative instructional programs/practices for English Learners.
• Employ cooperative learning strategies to engage all EL students in learning.
• Use data to guide instruction and work collaboratively in a professional learning community.
• Prepare lesson plans based on the Indiana State Standards, WIDA ELD Standards and record grades using the Corporation electronic grade book (Power School), and assist in the development, revision, and evaluation of the math curriculum.
• Participate in the 8‑step process of instruction and remediation/enrichment. Must have knowledge of and experience using software or online tools to remediate, enrich, and increase students’ skill sets.
• Effectively communicate with students and parents and be willing to contact parents to keep them fully informed of their student’s progress.
• Create a positive and professional relationship with students, foster a welcoming, focused and productive learning environment where students feel comfortable seeking assistance.
• When appropriate, serve as a cooperative member of the Small Learning Community – Freshman Academy and attend Freshman Academy meetings.
• Implement various school and Corporation initiatives, including Culturally Responsive – Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, Character Education, and participate in Professional Communities.
• Work in collaboration with the Bilingual Education Specialist.

Qualifications: Must hold a current Indiana License/Certification in Mathematics in grades 9‑12 and be highly qualified.

• Master’s degree or higher preferred.
• Prefer ESL/EL/ENL Certification/License.
• Previous experience in an urban high school setting preferred.
• Experience teaching varying levels of math courses required.
• Candidate must not have had a recommendation for Probation Assistance on most recent evaluation.
• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with students, faculty, and administration.

• Candidate will have previous experience with English Learners.
• Ideal candidate will hold a current Indiana License/Certification in Technology Education and/or a Science discipline.

Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other technologies and office equipment; sit, stand, and walk for extended periods; kneel; bend at the waist; lift, push, pull, and carry equipment, supplies and materials weighing up to 25 pounds; repetitive hand movement and fine coordination to use a computer keyboard;

emotional stability to work effectively under pressure and to keep all aspects of the job under control; hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone; seeing to read; prepare and assure the accuracy of documents.
