Description

2nd Grade Teacher

Holy Family School in South Bend is in search of a qualified elementary teacher for 2nd grade. The ideal candidate will be faith-filled and dedicated to providing quality, data driven instruction for students of all abilities integrating the mission of Holy Family School and the Diocese of Fort Wayne / South Bend in all planning, teaching, and classroom activities.

Job

Responsibilities Include:

Homeroom teacher for a 2nd grade class of 18-24 students..

Responsible for enforcing the school’s discipline policies and demonstrating effective classroom management with regards to student organization, behavior, and transitions throughout the day.

Maintaining school records as required by the diocese and state.

Communicating regularly and effectively with parents regarding all aspects of school life for this group of students.

Working cooperatively with administrators, grade level teacher teams, other staff, and parents on various school-wide initiatives, projects, and field trips.

Prepares lesson plans and teaches in assigned subject area and grade level in accordance with state and diocesan guidelines.

Alive in Christ Religion Curriculum

iREADY Math and the IXL online program for math instruction.

Amplify CKLA Language Arts and Science of Reading Curriculum

PLTW and FOSS Kits for Science instruction

Uses data to measure student growth and drive individual instruction.

Incorporates relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.

Recognizes the variety of student learning styles and facilitates learning by adapting instructional methods and teaching materials to student needs.

Uses various assessments to measure student growth.

Regularly enters grades and monitors student academic progress via Power School software.

Commits to ongoing faith formation and professional growth.

Education, Experience and Skills Required :

Indiana Elementary teaching license or demonstrated eligibility to receive license.

High level thinking and problem solving skills.

Ability to speak and write fluently and grammatically correct English.

Strong written, verbal presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements:

Regularly required to walk up and down multiple flights of stairs,

Stand for 30 minutes at a time,

Operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment.

Must occasionally lift and / or move up to 10 pounds.
