Position: School Psychologist (Grades P-12)

School Psychologist (Grades P-12)

Under the general supervision of the Director of Exceptional Education, assist students, teachers, and parents in enabling students to derive the fullest potential educational experience from school by promoting positive self-esteem and resilience, providing suggested methods and plans for overcoming psychological, mental health, behavioral, social and/or academic challenges.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement comprehensive and integrated school psychological services.
  • Conduct psychological assessments, testing, and diagnostic examinations of students.
  • Assist with the identification and placement of all types of exceptional education students.
  • Attend case conferences and other types of meetings as needed for students with special needs.
  • Maintain expertise in response-to-intervention (RtI)/multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS).
  • Provide regular preventative and reactive behavioral consultation to teachers, administrators, and families as needed.
  • Maintain professional knowledge and training in best practices for crisis response and threat assessments.
  • Serve as a resource and consultant on mental health and child psychology and conduct in-service programs as requested.
  • Conduct individual, group, or supportive therapy sessions for students who may benefit from mental and/or behavioral health interventions or support.
  • Coordinate with administrators and other teaching staff members to ascertain individual student's abilities and needs, including students with special needs.
  • Assist with district suicide prevention efforts and conduct suicide risk assessments when needed.
  • Assist with the school district's dropout prevention efforts.
  • Continue to acquire professional knowledge and growth by attending seminars, workshops, and professional meetings.
  • Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping and providing student information to prospective colleges and employers, as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
  • Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by or designated by the Director of Exceptional Education.
