Responsibilities
- Create a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals
- Provide effective instruction and assessment within common syllabi
- Deliver assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives
- Use available technology to enhance instructional methods
- Develop and maintain course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials
- Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other requirements
- Engage students meaningfully and implement active classroom teaching strategies
- Monitor and document student performance throughout the semester
- Use technology for academic advising alerts and provide interventions, tutoring, academic supports, and referrals
- Interact professionally and cooperatively with students and co-workers
- Implement emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs, and learning environments
- Conduct responsibilities in accordance with FERPA, regulatory requirements, and professional standards
- Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instruction
- Must meet faculty credentials as outlined in ASOM 7.1 for the specific area(s) of instruction
- Earned master's or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in sociology, social work, or social psychology; or
- Earned master's or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in any field with 18 hours in sociology and/or 18 graduate semester hours in sociology-related courses, including a course in statistics and/or research methodology
- Appreciation, respect, and promotion of diversity of people, styles, and views
Demonstrates expertise in instructional design and delivery, utilizing current technologies to enhance learning outcomes while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. Engages students through active teaching strategies and effective assessment methods.
