Education Experience Specialist

This role will provide strong instructional support through co-teaching and curriculum planning, supervise youth development staff, and collaborate with school leaders, families, and community partners to create a dynamic, safe, and enriching environment for all Club members during the first half of the day. In the afternoons, this role will involve co-planning, preparation, and site clean-up. Standard working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, which includes a one-hour lunch break.

Alternative scheduling arrangements to fulfill the nine-hour workday requirement may be approved at the supervisor's discretion.

BGCNIC serves 3,000 children ages five to 18 at 38+ sites across Northern Indiana through summer and before and after-care programming, with a strong focus on social and emotional learning, college and workforce readiness, and academic enrichment to ensure every child has a chance to meet his or her potential.

• Co-plan and implement educational and enrichment programming aligned with BGCNIC’s academic and social emotional framework
• Co-teach in classroom and Club settings
• Facilitate small and large group activities based on the needs and interests of youth (middle school and high school ages)
• Assist in data collection on youth’s achievement of progress, standard mastery, and individual goals
• Plan and prepare daily lesson materials, supplies, and activity schedules during office hours
• Plan and prepare daily mini-lesson sessions focused on social emotional skills, study skills, interpersonal skills, and other essential life skills as needed
• Work with a small group of students (5-10) in supporting their independent learning plan provided by the home school
• Ensure all programming aligns with school and Club objectives, using positive behavior management and trauma-informed practices
• Participate in trauma-informed classroom management strategies
• Attend team meetings and engage in quality improvement initiatives
• Serve as mentor and subject matter expert for best practices
• Assist in training and mentoring new team members as they are onboarded
• Assist with BGC summer programming, including but not limited to teaching and planning efforts

• Oversee Leadership Center operations including daily attendance, timecard approvals, and site roster management using platforms like My Club Hub  and Paycor.
• Provide coaching, feedback, and supervision to Education and Club Experience Specialists (EESs) and volunteers.
• Co-Lead daily team huddles and monthly staff meetings in partnership with the Leadership Center Program Manager to ensure alignment and continuous improvement.
• Maintain a visible and engaged presence in the Leadership Center during program hours.

• Cultivate strong relationships with families, school staff, and community partners.
• Meet regularly with school principals and communicate promptly regarding significant incidents.
• Assign volunteers to meaningful roles that align with their interests and skills.
• Support BGCNIC’s development and marketing efforts through positive community engagement and storytelling.

• Ensure implementation of all Leadership Center safety, guidance, and discipline policies.
• Assist as a bus monitor as required to safely transport kids between the Leadership Center and their school.
• Complete and maintain incident, accident, and behavior documentation.
• Participate in professional development and required training including CPI, CPR, First Aid, suicide prevention, and trauma-informed care.
• Assist with grant writing and data collection efforts.
