As a Mechanical Design Engineer II here at Honeywell, you will inspire, design and develop products and systems as a highly engaged and integrated engineering team. You will collaborate across Honeywell engineering teams to build fuel systems and components (fuel control units, pump, electrohydraulic servo valves, etc) that meet the evolving needs of our customers. You will participate in all phases of product development and will be part of a group of hardworking engineers whose expertise ensures the success of engineering projects and programs.
You will report directly to our Mechanical Design Engineering Manager, and you’ll work out of our South Bend, IN location on a hybrid work schedule.
Responsibilities- CAD Modeling & Drawing with moderate supervision
- Ansys Workbench – Static Structural, Modal, DOE
- Design Engineering, Sizing, & Solutions
- Customer Requirements Interpretation
- GD&T and Tolerance Studies
- Python – Root Solving, Systems of Equations
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics
- 2+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering, preferably within aerospace or related industries
- Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes relevant to aerospace applications
- Proficiency in CAD software such as CATIA, Solid Works, or NX for creating detailed mechanical models and drawings
- Experience with tolerance analysis, GD&T, and design for manufacturability and assembly (DFMA) methodologies
- A Co-Op / Internship experience is a plus
- Ability to convey subtle or complex messages clearly, as appropriate for the topic and audience.
- Individuals who are self‑motivated and able to work with little supervision, who consistently take the initiative to get things done, do things before being asked by others or forced to by events.
- Demonstrated experience with design tools appropriate for the field (NX / Python / Ansys, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience with artificial intelligence and machine learning
- Demonstrated extra‑curricular/leadership experience.
- GPA of 3.0 or higher is a plus.
