POSITION DETAILS:
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay: $75K -$100K
FLSA: Salary, Exempt
Schedule: Mon-Fri
Location: South Bend, Indiana
Travel: Limited to none
WHAT WE WILL EXPECT FROM YOU
The Process Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes and systems. They will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that production processes are efficient, effective, and meet quality standards. The Process Engineer will also be responsible for project management, operations support, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role reports to the Engineering Manager.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Identify, plan, execute and implement process projects (up to $2M USD), including assessment of results
- Support plant Project Manager from the process side
- Alignment with plant and operations excellence teams
- Provides oversight of installation, startup and performance testing of multiple projects concurrently
- Track and report on process project progress
- Train plant team in operating procedure developments
- Assists in justifications, cost estimates and other project documents as required for approval
- Develops technical specifications to procure equipment and services
- Provides oversight of the plant operation by reviewing, studying, problem-solving, and trouble-shooting the plant systems and equipment and provides recommendations/reports
- Analyzes and interprets data for opportunities to improve production, efficiencies, yields operating costs, and reduce defects. Generate reports summarizing findings.
- Completes other requirements for compliance with OSHA Process Safety Management regulations including but not limited to MOCs, P&IDs, equipment specifications, PHAs, and other PSM elements
- Provide technical support during unplanned events and for planned outages.
- Drive root cause identification and analysis for process-related deviations and identify opportunities to improve
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field required, Chemical preferred
- Minimum 5 years related engineering experience ideally within chemical, oil or ethanol industry
- Proven Project Management skills
- In-field operations support experience
- Must wear and maintain company required Personal Protective Equipment including, but not limited to: FR pants/ long-sleeve shirt, safety glasses, hard hat, safety-toe boots, hearing protection, and gloves
- Physically able to perform the following job essential functions, inclusive of but not limited to: crouching, kneeling, bending, walking long distances, lifting/pushing/pulling/carrying up to 50 pounds, work at heights, continuous work in confined spaces, ascend/ descend/ work from: stairs/ladders/scaffolding.
- Must have the ability to work continuously in an environment inclusive of but not limited to: dust, loud noise(s), walk on uneven or slippery surfaces, outdoors, heat/cold, poorly illuminated areas.
