Overview

The Controller will oversee all financial operations of the company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective cost control, and compliance with industry regulations. This role requires a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, particularly in metal finishing, to provide insightful financial analysis and support strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant regulations.
  • Develop annual budgets in collaboration with department heads.
  • Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, providing variance analyses.
  • Analyze production costs, labor, and material expenses to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Implement and maintain cost accounting systems specific to metal finishing processes.
  • Establish and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure financial integrity and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for operation.
  • Manage relationships with banks and financial institutions.
  • Ensure timely filing of all tax returns and regulatory reports.
  • Stay updated on changes in financial regulations affecting the manufacturing sector.
  • Supervise and mentor the accounting team, fostering professional development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support overall business objectives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with Epicor is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in the metal finishing industry or similar manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and cost accounting.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations related to metal finishing.
Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of remaining stationary at a desk and working on a computer and talking on a phone. Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds vel may be required on occasion.

Travel

Local and overnight travel may be required occasionally.
