Responsible for analyzing reports and conducting investigations to ensure that customer account activity is not in violation of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) or the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulations. Trains company employees on their responsibilities under these regulations.
Responsibilities- Work as a member of the BSA AML Compliance Department to ensure the bank maintains compliance with BSA and OFAC regulations and that selected employees are properly trained.
- Conduct investigations into customer account activity identified as suspect to determine reporting requirements under the BSA.
- File Suspicious Activity Reports on identified suspicious activity with FinCEN.
- Analyze reports to ensure the bank files Currency Transaction Reports or other required reports by BSA or OFAC regulations.
- Conduct appropriate reviews as prescribed by the BSA of accounts that the bank may elect to exempt from the BSA reporting requirement.
- Review High Risk customers to determine if they are within the bank's risk appetite.
- Interface with law enforcement agencies investigating suspected criminal activity per BSA regulations.
- Process possible OFAC matches and appropriately elevate them.
- Process FinCEN 314(a) list and report back to FinCEN any accounts on the list.
- Provide support to the Fraud Investigations Officer as needed.
- Maintain compliance with regulations and train appropriate bank personnel.
- Assist with annual bank examinations and audits (both internal and external).
- Ensure regular and predictable attendance, compliance with all training, and adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
- Five (5) or more years of experience in banking, finance, auditing, compliance and/or legal experience preferred.
- Two (2) or more years of experience in BSA/AML/OFAC compliance management preferred.
- Strong understanding of the BSA and OFAC regulations.
- Verafin case management knowledge preferred.
- Lexis Nexis knowledge preferred.
- Time‑management ability and self‑direction within prescribed service level agreements.
- Experience with banking core processing systems, record‑retention and retrieval systems.
- Understanding of branch banking transactions and new account opening processes preferred.
- Knowledge of personal and business banking products (deposits, loans, lines of credit, wire transfers, monetary instruments, mortgages, trusts, insurance, investments).
- Strong analytical and independent thinking skills.
- Internet and third‑party research skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Friendly and courteous disposition, team‑player attitude.
- Confidentiality of work files.
- Customer service skills (internal and external).
Bachelor’s Degree preferred. CAMS Certification preferred. CFE Certification preferred.
Travel RequirementsAbility to travel to all locations and overnight travel as needed for meetings, projects, seminars, etc.
Physical DemandsThe physical demands include sitting, standing, walking, using hands and fingers to operate keyboard and other office equipment, reaching with hands and arms, talking or hearing, occasional stooping or kneeling, and occasional lifting or moving up to 10 pounds.
