Job Overview
We are seeking an Application Support Specialist to help plan, analyze, implement, and support life safety software applications and related hardware solutions that drive customer and business success. This is a full-time, in-person role with normal hours of 7:00 am to 4:00 pm EDT, Monday through Friday, though we may require after‑hours or weekend work to meet customer and project needs. Travel to customer and vendor sites can be moderate to considerable, reaching up to 50% during busy periods.
We offer a competitive salary range of $30.00 to $44.00 per hour, along with a company vehicle, vacation/PTO, health insurance, and a 401(k) plan.
- Analyze projects with internal teams and customers to define technical requirements and tailor solutions that meet customer and business goals.
- Contribute to technical project planning by using estimating and project management methods to guide delivery.
- Program, configure, and commission nurse call, RTLS, patient whiteboard, wireless telephony, paging, and other life safety/building systems.
- Coordinate installations, maintenance, and test environments while sharing technical information with service teams and end users.
- Install, modify, upgrade, and maintain supported software and equipment to keep systems performing at their best.
- Review, refine, and implement team processes and procedures to reduce risk and maintain compliance.
- Train and instruct customers on proper system and equipment operation to support ease of use.
- Integrate systems such as nurse call, ADT, wireless phones, and middleware to ensure correct setup and operation.
- Maintain the CRM with accurate, current customer information.
- Prepare and update technical closeout documentation, including riser diagrams, test results, and warranty records.
- Support other teams and departments as needed to help sustain business growth.
- Associate degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
- 2+ years of progressive experience with low-voltage electrical systems, nurse call, RTLS, patient whiteboards, wireless telephony, or paging systems.
- Background working with hospital IT teams and database administration.
- Strong ability to plan, prioritize, analyze, and organize work with close attention to detail.
- Proven capability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, with strong follow‑through and problem‑solving skills.
- Solid understanding of network topology, including wireless networks, LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, FTP, and Windows file services.
- Experience with VMware, Crystal Reports, HL7, and Citrix preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Experience with MS SQL environments through MS SQL 2017, from installation to query‑level troubleshooting.
- Experience with MS Server through MS Server 2016, including domain, DNS, and DHCP administration.
- Knowledge of SIP and TAP messaging in telecommunications for SMS/pagers.
- Familiarity with remote access tools such as Team Viewer and VNC, plus VPN access.
- Ability to troubleshoot network issues using tools such as Wireshark.
- Advanced networking knowledge, including OSI model troubleshooting, subnet design, traffic types, QoS, load balancing, clustering, F5, Kemp, and Netscaler.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to present information and train others at different levels inside and outside the organization.
- Strong customer orientation, confidentiality, professional demeanor, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Self‑motivated, well organized, adaptable, and committed to continuous learning.
- At least 2 years of software programming experience required.
