Description
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Assists children in crossing streets at assigned locations.
- Drives to various locations as directed to control student crossings.
- Keeps a daily count of children crossing at corner/intersections; acts in a firm, but courteous and polite manner to children, as well as passing motorists.
- Reports any suspicious activity or disregard for crossing by motorists or passersby to Crossing Guard Supervisor.
- Coordinates work schedule with Crossing Guard Supervisor.
- Participates in required Police Department training.
- Must be able to deal effectively with children and general public.
- Must provide own transportation.
- Ability to walk and raise a ten (10) pound sign and light are necessary to perform duties.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimal education required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS- Valid Driver's License required

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and walk, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; use hands to fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required in this job include vision and the ability to adjust focus.
WORKENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Work is done in an outdoor environment. Inclement weather is often encountered; cold, ice, snow, rain and darkness are often present during work periods.
SCHEDULE:One hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon, Monday-Friday. Work all days when schools are in session.
