Description
Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced and results-driven Production Manager to oversee daily manufacturing operations within our precision machining facility. The Production Manager will be responsible for ensuring production goals, quality standards, safety requirements, and delivery schedules are consistently met while maximizing efficiency and profitability.
This leadership role requires strong experience in machine shop operations, employee management, scheduling, continuous improvement, and customer-focused manufacturing.
Responsibilities- Plan, organize, and direct daily production activities to meet customer requirements and on-time delivery goals.
- Manage production schedules, manpower allocation, and workflow throughout the facility.
- Supervise and develop department supervisors, CNC machinists, setup technicians.
- Monitor production performance, efficiencies, quality metrics, and labor utilization.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity and reduce waste.
- Coordinate with Quality, Engineering, Purchasing, and Shipping departments.
- Analyze production data, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions.
- Manage capacity planning and staffing requirements based on customer demand.
- Assist in troubleshooting manufacturing issues and resolving production challenges.
- Lead scheduling meetings and communicate priorities throughout the organization.
- Support customer audits and maintain quality management requirements.
- Control labor costs, overtime, and departmental budgets.
- Foster a positive culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- 5+ years of production management experience in a CNC machining, precision manufacturing, or metalworking environment.
- Medical, aerospace, defense, or high-precision manufacturing experience.
- ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of CNC machining processes including milling, turning, Swiss machining, and secondary operations.
- Experience managing production schedules and shop floor personnel.
- Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
