Beacon Health System is hiring a full-time evening shift Nurse Coordinator for our Psych Support Unit at Beacon Epworth Center in South Bend, IN. Type:
Full-Time/FTE 1.00 (40 hrs/wk). Shift: Evenings (3pm-12am, flexible).

As a Nurse Coordinator, you’ll support the Director/Manager of the unit with administrative and operational responsibilities while providing leadership through collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team. You’ll help uphold standards of professional nursing practice by participating in organizational and unit-based performance improvement initiatives and contributing to the development and evaluation of standards of care. You may provide direct patient care or function in the role of Epworth Nursing Supervisor as needed.
Using the nursing process and the Relationship-Based Care framework, you’ll collaborate with clinical, professional, and ancillary staff to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. You’ll model strong teamwork, self-care, and self-awareness, demonstrating empathy and compassion in every interaction.
Nurse Coordinator Job Responsibilities
- Promotes a caring and healing environment through self-care, stress awareness, and modeling compassion for patients, families, and staff.
- Demonstrates accountability by addressing issues and conflicts and collaborating with the Director/Manager as needed.
- Serves as a role model, preceptor, coach, and professional resource for nursing staff.
- Reviews staffing and assigns patient care based on staff competency, patient acuity, and unit needs.
- Anticipates staffing changes related to admissions, discharges, census, and acuity, adjusting assignments proactively.
- Collaborates with Nursing Supervisors to float, add, or downstaff nursing personnel appropriately.
- Communicates staffing plans and patient care updates clearly with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of care delivered by licensed and unlicensed staff and revises plans as needed.
- Provides timely, direct feedback aligned with organizational standards of conduct, performance, and attendance.
- Maintains high visibility on the unit through leader rounding and supervision of patient care activities.
- Shares accountability with leadership for achieving unit goals, staff development, and workflow management.
- Fosters teamwork through effective communication, participation in huddles, and appropriate delegation of care.
- Upholds professional nursing practice by respecting patient rights, privacy, dignity, and accountability for delegated care.
- Delivers safe, patient-centered care using the nursing process, critical thinking, teach-back, and family engagement.
- Supports quality outcomes through audits, documentation compliance, patient feedback review, continuous learning, and completion of assigned projects.
